Viva La Jumpsuit!

Jumpsuits forever!!!
FOOOORRRRR-EVVVVVV-ERRRRRRRRR
(if you haven't seen the SandLot at least 1,000 times,
then you might not understand the generational significance of the word "forever")
(believe me, it's a big deal)

Do I have some kind of weird, Freudian complex that makes me want to wear
what basically amounts to the adult version of a onesie?

(yes)

Which 11111111111?

I can't choose - somebody help!

No, seriously, or I'll buy them all. I have a bad habit of doing that when I can't choose.

Sweater Dresses!

YAY - it's time for sweater dresses!
Some of these are "body-con" which I'm pretty sure is fashion slang for "body conscious" and means not subtly that you (and everybody else) will be literally conscious of your body/every little ripple underneath your dress.
the good ripples and bad ones...

Choose wisely, friends...

Cold Rained In

Not nearly as fun as being snowed in (and "fun" being relative to how much food/water you have....as well as cable), but I do the best I can. There was supposed to be > 2 feet of snow on the ground by now, but alas...not one flake. Anyways, hypothetical: suppose I were snowed in - and wanted to make some sugar cookies -  but Oh No! I don't have any butter - that means I need to go to the store for ingredients - but what should I wear? What should I wear........

Is there a lot here? Sure, but when you need some butter, you need some butter -

Been a Long Time (I shouldnt've left you without a dope outfit to step into...)

Heh heh? You like what I just did there (the title, silly)? Well it only makes sense if you know Aaliyah's song by heart....which anyone who came of age in the 90's does!!! That's a given.

Anyways, it has been a long time. I was asked to make a Xmas list and I listed Old Navy as one of the items; like, literally, all I said was "Old Navy." Those two words, nothing else. That's what I want for Xmas - the entire store.

With that in mind, of course I did some online shopping to see what I actually wanted and it was hard to narrow down because, you know, I will own the whole store come Christmas....but here's one outfit that I would wear if I had all the pieces.

Personally, I'm tempted to layer the vest over the sweater - but that's mainly because I can't choose which one I like better. Black, sheer tights. Stunna!

Old Navy (obviously): Belted jersey dress, 29 (sale!); Faux snakeskin flats, 26.94; Faux shearling vest, 29 (sale); Popcorn knit sweater coat, 40 (sale)

Front Row Seats

Style.com has been my web browser homepage for a very long time and reminds me everyday of how lame I look and how utterly unattainable high fashion can be. But, remember, while fashion may be expensive, style is free!

Which is why I make high fashion desktop backgrounds (one of my favorite hobbies) (especially when I'm trying to avoid extremely important things...you know, like what you're doing right now;) to feel like I'm actively participating in the world I so desperately eagerly want to join.

Behold.

I can't wait to avoid more and more things so I can bring you more and more of these glorious graphics. Keep your fingers crossed!

A(gain)NTM

OMGGGGG!!! I am like an ANTM magnet!!!!! I found another one of my ALL-TIME favorites - Felicia "Fo" Porter. She was so beautiful with her freckles and short hair and complexion and everything!!!! (Actually, when she was voted off the show, that was the last time I watched ANTM....it was that upsetting. Shut up.)

(Tearing up.)

(I said shut. up.)

Here she is modeling for H&M - girl you've come a long way! You show 'em!

While we're on the subject of ANTM. The number #1 picture of ALL TIME from ANTM has to be the Cycle 1 finale pic of Adrianne Curry (who won Cycle 1)
(DUH!!!!!!! LOOK AT THIS PICTURE!!!!!!):

She is modeling jewelry, by the way - a necklace - look veryyyyy closelyyyyyyyy

I found another one. Tonight is my lucky night. I've been browsing literally RANDOMLY for hours and I've come across TWO models from America's Next Top Model. And both were some of my absolute favorite models on the show! This one is Jaslene Gonzalez, who won Cycle 8, modeling an evening gown on NetFashionAvenue.com!

Click the link to see her picture from NetFashionAvenue.com, but I just wanted to post modeling pics of her that I hadn't yet seen - and that are WAY better than the picture from said website.

You Go Girl!

ANTM: Where are they now?
I don't know.
But I found one just a second ago - honestly I don't know if this is an old picture but here's YaYa DeCosta modeling for Venus.com!

You Go Girl!!

Aaaahhhh back in the saddle. Feels good. These items are not cheap, but I want them. And that's all that matters.

Okay, so I know it may be hard to see how these different things go together because of the way they're organized in the photo. But if you place the items on your body as shown (hint: choose 1 shirt, not all 4), it will look great. You know how I know? Because I'd wear it.

Case closed.

I really only wanted the shoes, but I have to wear something other than the shoes....legally....

All from Urban Outfitters:
Sessun Robson ankle boot, $329 (whoa)
Stine Goya landscape coat, $595 (for a sweater, DAMN?!?!)

Festivities

This look kind of reminds me of those sartorial photographs I see on Style.com during some kind of music festival. The photographed celebs or psuedo-celebs look appropriately, but not entirely organically, bohemian/disheveled. And yes, I equate bohemian with disheveled. Generally speaking...

Tee inside jean shirt, which is worn unbuttoned, skinny belt on top of that, bag held at crook of elbow...all day.

Makin' Some Fireworks

Mission Head Turning is complete....
I was going to add a jacket with this, but odds are that it's hot just about everywhere in the country now....so it just seems excessive. The waistband of the cowl neck tank from Old Navy will no doubt be droopy, you can trust Old Navy for this, but to remedy that I chose a wide belt to go over the waistband after the shirt is draped over the skirt. Lesson: a wide belt can fix just about any problem, from a broken zipper to a muffin top. Remember this, my friends, remember.....

Method to the Madness

I don't expect everyone to understand why I chose this bag to go with this outfit. I like it. Do what you want.
See instructions below.
But for the skirt, shirt and belt situation - let me explain. 1) Put on skirt. 2) Place wide belt around top of skirt, about 1-2'' from the skirt's waistband. 3) Put on shirt. 4) Tuck in a partial amount of the shirt into the front of the skirt's waistband (see example), so it shows the belt but hangs loosely/casually over the waistband. Don't tuck in the rest of the shirt (unless you want to...beware bumpy booty). 5) Put on chambray jacket as final touch.

Example:

Don't be too proud to ask for help.

Skirt: Striped Skirt, WetSeal.com, 16.50
Shirt: Just Look Crop Top, WetSeal.com, 10.99 (sale!)
Belt: Leatherette Diamond Belt, Forever21.com, 6.80
Sandals: Braided Details Thong Sandals, Forever21.com, 16.80
Jacket: Chambray Double Breasted Jacket (denim/cream), Forever21.com, 29.90
Bag: Small Tapestry Leatherette Bag, Forever21.com, 24.80

Set the Mood

Can't go wrong with any of these shoe choices...just depends on your mood for the day...

If you have a mood disorder, I suggest carrying all of them in your car. Just to be safe.
Tank: Floral Braided Tank, WetSeal.com, 16.50
Pants: Porkchop Tie Belt Pant, WetSeal.com, 19.50
Sandals (all from WetSeal.com) (clockwise from top left): Stripe Slip On Flat, 7.99 (sale!); Braided Cork Wedge, 15.99 (sale!); Lurex T-Strap Sandal, 7.99 (sale!); Stripe & Bow Flat, 12.80; Canvas and Jute Flat, 7.99 (sale!); Basic T-strap Sandal, 10.50

The CoaTANK - or - The TankOAT

Basically and perhaps unsuccessfully I was trying to convey the convergence of the "coat" and the "tank top" by melding the words together...hence "coaTANK" and "tankOAT." Don't judge.
I'm of the opinion that outerwear, even if it is as useless as the coatank, makes an outfit look significantly more effort-full (don't know the opposite for effortless...) and fashion forward (unless you just look like crap...).
I've noticed the difference a blazer can make to just a tank top and jeans, so I'm sure the power of blazer-type outerwear can expand to any kind of outfit. Try it, and prove me right.

HINT: Tuck tank top into skirt so that belt shows...it'll complete the safari look.
Okay, all the other stuff helps too....but that coatank - CLUTCH.

Skirt: Belted Pintuck Mini Skirt, WetSeal.com, 15.99
Tank: Leopard Racer Tank, WetSeal.com, 16.50
Coatank: Sleeveless Trench Coat, Forever21.com, 27.80

Building Blocks

Colorblock patterns (and stripes) are great "background" patterns for the
introduction of other noisier patterns.
They're kind of like the crazy cousin of neutrals.

And, in some cases, it just doesn't work.
Take your chances.

Lazy Saturday....Or is it??

One of my dirty little secrets is that on days like today, a lazy Saturday, when I haven't done anything at all, if I need to go out and get something--even if it's a quick trip like to CVS or Subway--I make sure I dress as though I've been out tirelessly doing errands all day! You never know who you might run into......I've learned that lesson too many times to count....

Both vests not to be worn at the same time...hopefully that was clear for most people...

My Duty

I'm trying to help Wal-Mart out, but it's hard sometimes. I can find decent, super cheap shirts and pants/shorts there often, but nothing more than run-of-the-mill stuff that I wear at home or when I'm sweating. Norma Kamali's line at Wal-Mart is pretty decent, although I've never seen anything in stores, only online. I ordered one T-shirt from her line that I'm happy with (note: I ordered an XL thinking it would run small, but it was kind of big and long, so I think the sizes are "true to size" or whatever, and it hasn't shrunk in the wash/dryer so it's still baggy--which I like :). Anywho, I've found a couple of things worth sharing:
